why?

Why does something so gross make your soup taste so good?  And just in case the picture below doesn't turn your stomach just a little bit, as you imagine it floating in a steaming hot pot of 16 various beans, then read this.

    LOL. Disgusting. Though, at first I thought it was a picture of that hunk of bread I brought you--preeeetty ugly.

    The picture of a ham hock surrounded by a bed of bok-choy actually looked kind of tasty. But then again...I'm Chinese.
